During the November 22, 2019 meeting, President Elect Drew Pelger filled in for President Mark Rojek. Drew welcomed the 52 members and 3 guests to the meeting.
 
A thank you goes to the following Rotarians for volunteering during the meeting:  PP Paul White for giving the Invocation;  Lynn Hamilton for working the attendance table;  Jennie George and Raquel Raderchak for greeting the members and guests.
 
Congratulations to PDG/PP Dave Ewing for having the winning 50/50 ticket worth $33.00.
 
Secretary Julia Dick welcomed the following guests:  Shana Smith (speaker); Deidre K. Stokes Davis (guest of speaker); Shane McAllister (guest of Brad Carpenter).
 
President Elect Drew then brought the members up to date on his Charitable Fund Drive. His monetary goal is $12,000 and he states "we have a ways to go to get there". If he meets his goal, he will do a "Polar Plunge". (*please see story for details)
 
PP Michelle Mullaly took to the podium and relayed information pertaining to this years "Pack the Bus", which is being spearheaded by the McKinley High Marching Band. The donation day is scheduled for Thursday, December 19th, from 10 am - 5 pm at the Zimmermann Symphony Center. *With members of the McKinley Band performing for our annual Holiday program on Friday, December 20th, the Band Director will also bring the band equipment trailer to the Krassas Event Center that day for any non-perishable food or clothing donations Rotarians might want to make that day.
 
Rotarian Jennie George informed the members about the upcoming RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) conference and the need for items for the goody bags distributed to the students. If you are interested in providing a promotional item from your business, they will need 100 of any one item so every bag gets an item. *Please see story above for items requested and items not permitted.
 
Vice President Mark Clendenin then welcomed the speaker for the day, Shana Smith, who is the Central Office Family and Community Outreach Coordinator for the Stark County School District. Her presentation was "Beyond The School Day".
 
 
 
President Elect Drew concluded the meeting with the following announcements:
 
  • there is NO MEETING on Friday 11/29 due to the Thanksgiving Holiday;
  • please remember to support our Charitable Fund Drive which helps fund our community service projects;
  • we still are in need of volunteers for the December 7th Salvation Army Kettle bell ringing at Giant Eagle on the Strip (see story above for info);
  • volunteers are needed for the Thursday, December 19th "Pack the Bus" event from 10am - 5pm. Please contact PP Michelle Mulllaly if interested;
  • a very big "Thank You" to the Krassas Event Center for providing the delicious cheesecake for the meeting!
The following Rotarian turned in a makeup during Friday's meeting:  Ernie Schott (Carrollton).
 
The following Rotarians received a makeup for making reminder phone calls for the Health Screen event:  PP Amanda Tietze, Raquel Raderchak, Becky Clark, Paula Mastroianni and Kim Kroh.
 
The following received a makeup for attending the Board meeting on Tuesday, November 19, 2019:  President Mark Rojek; President Elect Drew Pelger; Vice President Mark Clendenin; Treasurer Tom Clevenger; Assistant Secretary Paula Mastroianni.  The Board of Directors in attendance were:  Bill Liber; Dan Fulilne; Kim Kroh; Kurt Goodenberger; Justin Candea; Raquel Raderchak and Assistant Parliamentarian Dave Ewing.
