1776 – General George Washington arrives at the banks for the Delaware River in preparation of his famous crossing that took place one month later.
1947 – The movie that catapulted Marlo Brando into movie stardom, “A Streetcar Named Desire”, opened on Broadway.
1967 – The first human heart transplant took place in Cape Town, South Africa. 53 year old Louis Washkansky received his heart from a 25 year old woman who perished in a car accident. Unfortunately he passed 18 days later from double pneumonia.
1979 – The last AMC Pacer rolled off the assembly line.

Weird Fact:
Today was the day that Ozzy Osbourne bit the head off of a bat during a live concert. An audience member threw it up on stage and Ozzy did the deed not realizing it was a live bat until too late. But the bat got his justice by biting Ozzy too. Ozzy had to be treated for rabies. (Editor's note: no word as to whether Ozzy was a Rotarian!)
