CELIA KING, LEAD CONSULTANT AT ARRANTS MCSWAIN TEAM BUILDING, TOPIC: "THE PROBLEM WITH COMMUNICATION IS THINKING IT HAS TAKEN PLACE"
Presentation Title: The Problem with Communication is Thinking It Has Taken Place
One of the biggest concerns we hear from clients is "My team has a communication problem." When we dig a little deeper, the client can usually get more specific about their pain point, and it sounds something like "No matter what I do, they just don't get the message." Communication is hard and our difficulties usually start by not recognizing when someone's thinking differently than we are. In this session, we will look at two main processes people use to take in information, what happens when those two processes miss each other, and what you can do about it when it happens.

Celia King is the lead consultant at Arrants McSwain Team Building where she teaches leaders how to coach their team. She has a master’s degree in communication and uses her 27 years’ experience with the Myers Briggs to give clients a logical framework to understand how people are wired. She also shows leaders how to work with horses so they can develop the intuition necessary to work with people. Celia works with a wide range of clients including Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, educational organizations and non-profits.

The name “Arrants McSwain” comes from the maiden names of Celia’s grandmothers, two women who were strong, smart and resourceful. These women had little to no formal education but plenty of common sense. Naming her firm after them serves as a reminder that ideas only matter if they apply to real life.

NEWS FLASH:    President Elect Drew Pelger has announced that if (WHEN?) he reaches his Charitable Fund Drive monetary goal of $12,000, he will participate in one of the local "POLAR BEAR  PLUNGES"...brrrrr.

If you're not familiar with a "Polar Bear Plunge", it is when otherwise sane people decide to jump into a freezing cold body of water in the middle of winter! YIKES!

The President Elect plays a very important role in the Club as he leads the annual Charitable Fund Drive to raise money to fund our myriad community service projects. Throughout each Rotary year, we provide important funding for projects such as Rotary Scouts, Junior Achievement, Student Scholarships, and the Philomatheon Society, to name just a few.

Please feel free to contact the Rotary office to make a contribution to this important Charitable Fund drive on your credit card. You can also mail a check payable to the Canton Rotary Charitable Fund to 116 Cleveland Ave. N.W., Suite 307, Canton, OH 44702.

Thank you for your consideration of this vital drive which helps support our Club's work in the community in which we live!
